Modern Babywearing
Time for this weeks: #babywearingscenarios SCENARIO: Taking the baby to the doctor ( #infant #toddler or #preschooler - my choice would be the same) RECCOMENDATION: A #ringsling would be my top choice for a doctor appointment - every time. Why? . . - Quick ups and downs. You have to take baby out and undress them for weighing and measuring, then wait for the doctor to come. In that wait time you can keep them warm and secure in the sling really quickly. What about older kids? They probably will be mostly walking... But if they get scared, tired, or you want to keep them away from all the #germridden surfaces at the office, ring sling is a fuss free way to quickly put them "up" and let them back down again when everyone's ready. . . - Access for medical procedures. Any shots, blood draws, taking the temperature, looking at ears, throat, nose.... This can be done while in the sling! My 4.5 year old had her #kindergarten vaccines done while in the #sling and it was a tear free event. My #newborn had her #heelstick done in one while #breastfeeding and hardly flinched. . . - Ease of use/cleanliness. As much as I love #wovenwraps , I appreciate that this #babycarrier won't be dragging on the ground in the doctors office. I know they are washable, but I just prefer to try and leave those germs where they are at. And it's quick to adjust for #nursing and quickly reposition when done. . . - Finally - baby's interactions are more free in the sling. They can pivot to communicate with the doctors and nurses and observe what's going on - but bury their face back into their #caregivers - their #safespace - whenever they feel the need. . . #babywearing #reallifebabywearing #babywearingeducation #parenthood #parentingsupport #soulfamily #soulslings #ikat
Two older gentleman sitting next to me at lunch were just having a loud conversation disapproving of the Senate decision to allow #tammyduckworth to #breastfeed her #infant on the Senate floor. Outside a #santaclaracounty #publichealth office after a meeting for a #collaboration to try and make #babycarriers more accessible to families in need in our #community . I brought my #tinysidekick along with me, and she was a great help selling the #babywearing part ;) . . #babywearingeducator #lactationeducator #workingmom #ringsling #10weeksold #smittenwithwovens #modstripes @wearsmitten
